The Tinga Tinga style originates from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania around the 1960s and 1970s and spread to the whole of East Africa. This style consists of painting on a piece of masonite (a type of hardboard). The motifs are usually savanna views or “The Big Five”, with bicycle colors. They are very colorful and thereby create a very lively, eye-catching work that you can take home as a souvenir.
