Here comes a good checklist of practical information about Iran and things to keep in mind to be well prepared for the trip.

Passport / Visa

As a EU citizen, you must have a tourist visa to travel to Iran. Here you will find information on how to obtain it: Read carefully about this, as the country has special requirements that should be met for the process to go smoothly.

You must submit a hardcopy of Grant Notice to the Visa-On-Arrival counter at the airport. The notice will be available when your application for Visa on Arrival is approved and you receive the grant email. Grant Notice will be also available through following link if your application is approved:
Citizens of foreign countries, who are entitled to obtain visas at border checkpoints, must pay visa fee through banking terminals at airport in euros.

Also, apply for an electronic visa in time, preferably already two months before your departure date, as the processing times are usually several weeks.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months at the date of departure.


Contact your health care center in advance, preferably at least one month before departure, to find out which vaccines you may need for your trip to Iran.


Iran is a safe country for tourists. However, we recommend that you always pay close attention to luggage and belongings in public places and in public gatherings.


Most of Iran has inland climates with periods of very high temperatures during the summer months. Make sure you always have good access to water and that you wear appropriate clothing as you will be moving a lot during your turn.

Earthquakes occur frequently in Iran, mainly in the southern part of the country, which is close to a flat border. However, most are less extensive.

Travel insurance

Having adequate travel insurance during your trip in Iran is imperative. It does not cost much extra and allows you to relax and enjoy your holiday without worrying about unexpected expenses.
