Visitors’ Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism
Tourism is today recognized as a social phenomenon which brings mankind closer to different social values, cultural heritage and customs. Responsible tourism development imbibes the values of recognizing the sustainability of natural resources and the socio-cultural spirit of the land. Voyage By Me has inculcated several measures to be followed by tourists to preserve nature and culture.
Be aware of the feelings of other people, preventing what might be offensive behavior on your part. Inquire before photographing people, respect their privacy.
Appreciate the local culture and respect the diverse religious and social customs. Be polite to the native people and appreciate their traditions.
Appreciate the differences rather than the similarities, stimulate dialogue between cultures. Realize that often the people in the country you visit have different concepts and thought patterns than your own.
Learn a few basic words of greetings and polite phrases in the native language before your visit.
Acquaint yourself with local customs; local people will be happy to help you.
Observe the local laws and codes of the land.
Please do not take away things from natural and historical landmarks which are not legally permissible or might be protected.
Do not buy products made from endangered plants or species.
Please avoid littering public places, consider the environment and always use the recycle bins.
Stimulate local craftsmanship and purchase local souvenirs such as woodcarvings, embroidery, pottery, knitwear, wine, souvenir dolls, icons, etc.
Conserve energy by minimizing the use of fans, lights, etc when possible.
Avoid overuse, wastage and pollution of water, contributing to the global conservation of water resources.
Please feel free to donate, thus encouraging the efforts for cultural conservation.
Act as an example for other travelers that are less informed than you are.
Thank you for your attention!
