Unique accommodation in South Africa

The accommodation during your vacation in South Africa is a major part of the retention of your trip in the country. The range of accommodation is, of course, huge, so here we list some special places that we really think are worth living on. If you are eager to live in one of these places, please let us know in advance, and we will try to suggest it in our first proposal.

Stay as a Victorian at Table Mountain

Our first favorite an impressive Victorian accommodation that has been restored to its original glory and renovated with elegant finishes. The place has true colonial style, with a touch of Africa, and an open atmosphere where every piece of furniture is chosen with a purpose. With its location in Tamboerskloof, it is an ideal base from which to explore Cape Town’s beauty. It is just five minutes from Cape Town’s finest beaches and Table Mountain, and within a twenty minute drive of famous Stellenbosch & Franschhoek Winelands.

Stay like a lighthouse keeper

Stay with incredible views of the British Empire and the Atlantic, just as the guards once did. Their former cottages have been converted into unique homes, and this is one of the few places in South Africa where you can stay at a lighthouse. The accommodation is surrounded by the beautiful Columbine Nature Reserve, which offers fantastic natural experiences right next to the knot.

Stay funky in Barrydale

Stay at a really funky hotel nestled in a valley in the Langeberg mountain range. It is an experience you can’t miss! Only 2.5 hours by car from Cape Town.

Classic guesthouse on the beach

At Umdloti Beach you will find a fabulous guest house with two suites and a self-catering cottage – all with their own private entrances and lovely sea views. Fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up to a fantastic sunrise over the Indian Ocean. Check out dolphins that are here all year round as well as whales during the sunny and warm winter.

Inside of forest in the Millwood Indigenous Knysna Forest

Far from the modernities of civilization, you find a unique self-catering accommodation for nature-loving families, stressed city dwellers, adventurers and honeymooners. Experience an emerald-green day along the forest hiking trails, have a picnic, cycle or laze in the hammock. Paw out on the porch of the cottage and watch the birds. Barbecue under the stars a bright summer evening. In the winter you can enjoy a book or movie at your cozy fireplace.

Stay close to nature in the Wilderness National Park

Beautiful Wilderness National Park offers the perfect lodge accommodation to explore the beads of the Garden Route and Klein Karoo. Not only this small village the quietest of the Garden Route options; you are easy to reach lots of attractions; 25 minutes from lively Knysna, another 20 minutes away is fashionable Plettenberg Bay, while Oudtshoorn and the stunning Swartberg Pass are 60 minutes away. It is the only lodge right by the lagoon, but the beach is only a four minute walk away, while the charming Milkwood Village with its craft shops, informal restaurants and spas is a 10 minute walk (or three minute drive) away.

Tent accommodation in Woodville

Woodwille offers a unique and comfortable accommodation in a safari tent with private patio decks. Each tent has a private bathroom, wood-paneled bath with whirlpool tub and shower. Here you can enjoy some rest and relaxation or activate yourself with mountain bike tours, hiking, horseback riding, bird watching and more. You have a view of the Outeniqua Mountains and Lake Mandalay Farm, close to Wilderness Beach.

Stay at a citrus farm in Addo

In the heart of Addo you will find a picturesque guest house on a citrus farm. Not only can you explore the rich history of the area; It is close to many other attractions in the Sundays River Valley, such as the fabulous Addo Elephant National Park! Here are many guided tours you can do, as well as a wealth of adventure activities such as bird watching, hiking, horseback riding and canoe safaris.

Peaceful B&B in Johannesburg

We found a wonderful B&B on a very quiet street overlooking the historic Melville Koppies in Johannesburg. The view, the tranquility and the bird life here, makes you forget that you are in South Africa’s largest city. At the same time, you are within easy reach of many of the city’s attractions as well as cafés and nightclubs.

Royal staying in Pilgrim's Rest

An accommodation with 11 elegant hotel rooms and 39 cottages in a classic gold rush village, right next to the famous panorama route. The facilities offered in the area include a nine-hole golf course, horseback riding, trout fishing, gold panning, ghost tours and hiking trails.

Classic Inn in Mkuze

Our last favorite is an intimate and beautiful hotel at the foot of the legendary Ghost Mountain with the ideal location to explore the range of wildlife and coastal reserves in Maputaland and the Elephant Coast. Pamper yourself at Ghost Mountain Spa. Enjoy a Terres d’Afrique exfoliation and body wrap with natural South African products or a Dermalogica facial. The spa has a steam room and a relaxation area with private pool for resting between treatments.
